After we book your consultation, I will email you intake and consent forms to complete and sign. Please send these back to me 24 hours prior to your appointment so we can focus all of our time and attention on you and your baby!
You will get the most out of a breastfeeding consult if we start with a hungry (but not hangry!) baby. We will do our best to find an appointment time that would fall about 2 hours after the baby's last feeding.
Sending me a list of questions and your birth plan ready to review a few days before our appointment will help us stay on track and focused. Everyone's concerns are different, so we like to tailor these appointments to you and your family's needs.
Please have your pump and cleaned parts ready for us to use at your appointment. This type of consultation works best when there is breastmilk to be pumped! We can arrange a time that is good for you (when you would typically have to pump). The focus of this appointment will be finding which flange and which pump settings express the most breast milk and are the most comfortable! I will come with a wide array of flange shapes and sizes to try.
During our initial bottle refusal appointment, we may or may not add milk to the bottle! Please feed your baby before this initial assessment so they are content and happy. Bottle refusal typically is not a one-time fix appointment. We will add techniques as baby allows and is able to handle them and I will leave you with specific homework to practice after the visit.
